“When Jimmy died, it was the end of the Golden Age of motorcycles.” — Kathy

The Bikeriders is the latest film from writer/director Jeff Nichols (Mud, Loving, Midnight Special). It stars Tom Hardy and Austin Butler as Johnny and Benny, the leaders of the a motorcycle club (gang?) called the Vandals. Jodie Comer is Kathy, who married Benny and narrates the film to Danny Lyon, a photographer who’s chronicling the Vandals. The film wants to illustrate why so few organizations can maintain their founding ethos beyond the first generation. As probably won’t surprise you, I thought a lot about the church - both the entity Jesus founded and the denomination to which I belong.
